Animix review of calf-focused abstracts presented at the 2022 ADSA Annual Meeting in Kansas City

Abstract:

This review summarizes all calf-focused abstracts, whether presented as orals or posters, at the ADSA annual summer meeting that occurred in Kansas City June 20 – 24, 2022.

Abstracts are categorized under major categories including additives, amino acid nutrition, colostrum, CMR and milk feeding strategies, dry cow strategies that impact the calf, fats, and oils nutrition, genetics, health, management and housing, physiology, starter grain, weaning, veal, and vitamins and trace mineral nutrition.

Each abstract is summarized in a list of concise two-line summaries that enables the reader to understand the abstract’s key points, acknowledge the institution presenting the data, and disclose the abstract number. This gives the reader a chance to readily identify abstracts they might have a keen interest in.

After listing each abstract in a regimented concise way, the summary also goes in-depth on each calf-focused abstract, typically in 200 to 500 words, outlining study design, number of calves, key findings, and take-home messages.
